Celebrating poetry as an essential art form to foster empathy, bridge divides and awaken wonder.

More and more people are turning to poetry at this moment,
because amid fear and uncertainty, poetry can help bring needed strength.
At a time of anxiety and alarm, poetry can help bring tranquility.
Poetry has the power to bring us together.
— Jennifer Banka, Exec. Director of The Academy of American Poets

Tell me morE ABOUT...

Pink Noise

Virtual Poetry Reading & Open Mic

Who?

Two featured poets! These are phenomenal experienced poets in the realms of thinking, feeling, writing and performing whom we have specially chosen to knock your socks off. And YOU on the open mic. And YOU tuning in to listen!

What?

Well, it’s a poetry reading. And open mic. Hosted on Zoom, livestreamed on Facebook and then uploaded to YouTube.

After the features, we will have an OPEN MIC for the first 8 people to sign up. You can read 2 poems or 3 minutes, whichever comes first. If you want to tune in live and don’t have Facebook, you can also register on Zoom and choose “joining as audience.”

SOME STRAIGHTFORWARD GUIDELINES
Bring your best work, but leave the classism, racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism, etc. out of it. Parents, please note there may be adult content. We don't recommend this event for children under 14. By registering for the open mic on Zoom, you agree to be recorded and allow us the right to share the video publicly online.

When?

2nd and 4th Saturdays! Evenings 6-7:30 pm PST. (7-8:30 MST/8-9:30 CST/9-10:30 EST)

Where?

From our home to yours. Tune in from the comfort of your couch as we all practice the necessary act of social distancing.

There’s no reason why we can’t stay connected and creative even while physically apart. In fact, this virtual space allows us to meet in real time, no matter the miles in between us. Our organizers live all across the country, and you are invited to tune in from wherever you are.

Why?

Why not? What else is there to but create, and connect, and take heart from our shared human experiences? There is a world of hope that emerges when moving a pen across a page. Art is essential, and everyone is creative.

Support Pink Noise

Would you be willing to chip in a few dollars to keep us running? Please consider an optional “cover charge” of $3-10 to support each event.

Funds support operations and artists. We would also like to purchase a subscription that would allow us to stream to Facebook Live and YouTube at the same time for folks who don't have Facebook.

Thank you! Much love. Keep writing. Keep connecting.
